- Gospel queen’s long lost flame

Bunny gospel queen Rebecca Malope almost bumped off
her live-in lover by allegedly stabbing him in the neck with a broken wine
bottle.
The fracas occurred when Malope’s lover refused to
bump and grind with her.
A veil of secrecy has been drawn over the incident that took place at
Rebecca’s home in Spruitview Gardens
on May Day in 1994.
In an exclusive interview with Sunday World at his home in Vosloorus, Gigi Masango confirms his brush with death when Malope stabbed him in the neck.
Masango, who is known as “Gigzen”
in the area, alleges that Malope’s mother caught
him redhanded bonking the diva’s late sister in her
Zola Budd minibus taxi.
“ I slept with Cynthia because Rebecca and I used to
fight a lot, especially after I smashed her 4x4 car,” Masango
says.
“Our relationship was on and off. One day, when we were angry with each
other, I slept with Cynthia because she asked me to.”
Masango says Cynthia started hankering for sex with
him when Malope boasted about his coital exploits.
“I guess Malope told her sister how good I was, so
she wanted me to bang her as well,” he says.
Masango confessed and apologised
to Malope when she confronted him about his alleged
exploits with her sister.
This after her mother spilt the beans.
“She forgave me. She is a loving and caring person,” says Masango.
He says a couple of moons later all hell broke loose when he found Rebecca in
the bathroom drinking cider instead of getting ready to perform at a gig.
Masango says when he asked her why she wasn’t
getting ready, Malope went berserk and accused him
of sleeping with her sister again.
He alleges that she then demanded a round in the sack with him.
“I told her I was angry and not in the mood for sex. S he grabbed an empty
bottle, smashed it and stabbed me in the neck,” he says.
Malope then took him to the Johannesburg H ospital, where he was treated and released.
The lanky bloke says though they rekindled their relationship after the
incident, they eventually broke up when he discovered that Malope was cavorting with a celebrity known to Sunday
World.
“But I still love her,” he insists. “She once fell pregnant by me but
miscarried.”
Why do you still love her, we ask.
“That woman is old but she is good in bed,” he explains. “I miss her and I
know she misses me too.”
Masango’s remarks about Rebecca’s copulatory prowess come a few weeks after her lesbian
lover, Phendulwa Mbekwa,
revealed that the gospel songbird is a demigod in bed.
Malope feigned surprise when asked about the
incident.
“I don’t know about the incident and I don’t even know who Gigi is,” she said.
“I’m sorry, I’m gonna drop the phone,” she added
before cutting us off.
